About

James Anderson

Senior UI/UX Designer · Salt Lake City, Utah

I’m a designer with a wide range of creative interests and a habit of asking, “How could this work better?” My work spans UI/UX, web design, branding, and illustration. I enjoy shaping both how something looks and how it feels to use.

The projects I enjoy give me something to untangle: a complicated workflow, an interface that needs a clearer direction, or an idea that hasn’t quite taken shape. I like exploring possibilities, making connections, and working through the details until the pieces fit.

That curiosity follows me away from the screen. I tend to collect creative hobbies, especially ones that let me work with my hands. If there’s a tool, material, or technique I haven’t tried, it probably has my attention.

Beyond the screen

Sometimes pixels just aren’t enough!

Blacksmithing, woodworking, laser engraving, and laser cutting are some of the ways I spend my time outside of design. I like the change of pace that comes with physical materials—learning how they behave, what the tools can do, and how to turn an idea into something I can hold.

Sometimes I’m making something useful. Sometimes I’m trying a technique simply because it looks interesting. I don’t need every hobby to become a specialty. Exploring it is part of the enjoyment.

If a creative outlet exists, there’s a decent chance I’ve tried it at least once. If I haven’t, it may just be next on the list.

I’m open to senior UI/UX and product design opportunities where I can work closely with product and engineering and help shape useful, durable software.
