Visualizing Complex Settlement Workflows
Statuo helps teams manage claimants, approvals, settlement rules, and fund distribution in one platform. I joined the project late in development to improve key parts of the experience, including a revised navigation system and the new DPA Editor.
The Challenge
Statuo was already well into development when I joined, but delays had left important workflows unresolved. I needed to quickly understand an established product, work within its existing design system, and help move it toward completion under tight deadlines.
My Role
As Senior UI/UX Designer, I focused on simplifying navigation and designing the DPA experience. I worked directly with the client through rapid feedback and iteration, expanding the existing visual system where new interaction patterns were needed.
Building Complex Settlement Rules Visually
Statuo needed a way to create settlement workflows where one rule could affect decisions or calculations later in the process. I designed the DPA Editor as a visual workspace where rules, conditions, and grouped actions could be connected into a single flow, making those relationships easier to understand.
Testing the Impact Before Publishing
Building the workflow was only part of the problem. Administrators also needed to understand how those rules would affect actual settlement calculations. The Claimant Impact experience let users step through the workflow using sample claimants, review adjustments as they occurred, and verify the resulting balance before publishing changes.
Simplifying Navigation Across the Platform
I also revised the application navigation to create a clearer path between core areas such as claimants, approvals, rules, and imports. The updated structure reduced clutter while keeping important case and claimant information easier to reach.
Outcome
My work strengthened the existing Statuo experience while introducing a new visual approach to complex settlement rules. The revised navigation simplified movement across the platform, while the DPA Editor gave administrators a clearer way to build, test, and understand connected workflows.
The DPA direction was especially well received by the client and became a major part of my contribution to the platform.
